Businesses leaders have a responsibility to their people inside and out. From employees, stakeholders, partners, influencers, customers and suppliers a business leaders role is to add value to all of these people. We can often focus on what we sell and how much however if we put people at the heart of all we do the focus naturally leads to enhancing the experience through innovative and different thinking.
We spend over half if not more of our lives at work with our work colleagues, in the same environment and so the question here to you is, what kind of environment are you in? Are you happy with your second home? If the answer isn’t a resounding yes then it’s time to do some work to get to a resounding yes. Whether you are a business owner, a manger or an employee, you have a responsibility to shape the business that you are in for the good. The good of the business and for the good of you.
Business and creativity go hand in hand even though there can be confusion and negative connotations to creativity and innovation. You know, fluffy creative ideas. The amount of times clients have said, oh the fluffy stuff. We are here to tell you and show you if allowed that there is no fluff in innovative ideas that can shape and sometimes even transform the business. There is no fluff in every person inside the business knowing exactly what the business value proposition is, what the business stands for and how they need and want to behave to be part of growing the business. The biggest element here is making the WHY absolutely clear to your people, inside and out. The question is, how certain are you on your why and how certain is everyone else? We are so busy day to day that this area is often put to one side for a one day session with the leadership team to lock some ideas down and then circulate an email round.
The truth is, communication with your people and your customers is the lifeblood of your business and so without having engaged, happy, ready to buy people you will only be able to go so far. Value and innovation to allow powerful messages, strategic messages and an authentic story that sets you apart is all part of an effective communication strategy. There is no fluff in that just results.
